Nu-Derm® System

Over the years, your skin has been exposed to a number of environmental stressors, which cause damage that can reach the deepest layers of your skin. Photodamage, caused by the sun’s harmful rays, is the main cause of the fine lines, wrinkles and age spots that you may already see or you will eventually see on your face.

As the #1 prescription-strength, physician-dispensed skin care system, the Nu-Derm System can actually transform your skin at the cellular level. By addressing the signs of photodamage and restoring the healthy function of your skin cells, this system is clinically proven to result in younger- and healthier-looking skin.

How it works

What are the effects of photodamage on your skin?

As your skin ages and is exposed to UVA and UVB rays, the turnover of skin cells slows significantly, throwing off the balance between the growth of healthy new cells and the sloughing of old, damaged cells. Additionally, collagen and elastin begin to break down, causing the skin to lose resilience resulting in fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. Daily exposure to UV light then accelerates this aging process and may cause uneven coloring.

Signs of photodamage and aging

  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Rough skin
  • Skin laxity
  • Erythema (Redness)
  • Sallowness (Complexion)
  • Hyperpigmentation (Discoloration)

How does the Nu-Derm System transform your skin?

The Nu-Derm System penetrates below the surface of your skin to transform skin cell functions at the cellular level and correct the damage within.

Using a specific dose and frequency that’s recommended specifically by your skin care professional for your skin condition, the prescription-strength system exfoliates old skin leaving healthy, new skin that looks and acts younger and healthier.

The Center utilizes only the experienced Board Certified M.D. anesthesiologists who have full and active privileges at Rancho Springs Medical Center, a regional hospital one block away. Besides the usual call the night prior to surgery, a meeting with a staff anesthesiologist can be arranged prior to the day of your procedure.

It not only helps us improve our care but helps in the maintenance of your good result. You have worked hard to improve yourself and this is the first step! Our staff fosters a warm connection with patients from the start specifically to encourage them to see us again.

This of course varies and depends on the patient and where they live, and on the procedure. We encourage patients to continue to see us and especially to make an appointment whenever they have a concern. Patients are also encouraged to see us far into the future. We enjoy getting feedback about patients care at our Center and often, the best feedback comes from patients who return one, two and three years after their experience.

The Surgery Center team and physicians feel that warm and supportive care can be best rendered at home especially with the excellent pre-operative instruction of the nursing staff. The patient’s home is a well-known environment. Extended care facilities may even have staff that doesn’t have specific knowledge of the patient’s procedure. Therefore, every effort is made to tailor the patient’s procedure so that they can go home after their surgery. Patients can request a nurse to stay with them post-operatively. Patients who feel that home care may present special problems (inquisitive children) are encouraged to stay at a relative or friend’s home or hotel.

Generally, patient are seen the next day with the exception of patients who have a tummy tuck who are seen on the third post-operative day. Our staff and physicians will provide active input during all of your post-operative visits.

Our scheduling coordinator will contact you three days prior to surgery to see how you are doing and to communicate what time you should arrive at the Surgery Center. The anesthesiologist generally calls each patient the night prior to surgery to obtain some basic information and to put you at ease, and Dr. Newman will call you the evening of your procedure to make sure you are comfortable.

Once your procedure date is scheduled, we will set up a date for you to return for a pre-operative visit. The surgery plan will be reviewed again and any changes will be discussed. Pre-operative photographs will be taken and risks and benefits will be discussed thoroughly. Prescriptions for any labs, studies and medications will be given to you at this time. Please have these filled prior to your surgery so you will have them at home after your procedure.

Simply speak to our scheduling coordinator after your visit with us. She can give you a date for your care or can give you several options to think about. We generally offer surgical services several days during the week and on Saturday. We have been offering Saturday surgery to our patients for 15 years and have found that it helps greatly with their schedule and gives more time off from work, allowing an easier recovery.
