Our torso not only provides structural support but in recent years has become an icon that represents our body’s beauty and form and confers, when aesthetically pleasing, a sense of health and well being. There are a wealth of surgical procedures to attack and possibly reverse the ravaging effects of time, childbirth, and the effects of weight change which can damage our frame. The art of cosmetic surgery of the body lies not only in optimal surgical care but also in matching the right procedure with the right patient. If you perceive that improvements can be made through either surgery or suction please feel free to schedule a consultation at our Murrieta/Temecula office.

Liposuction (Liposculpturing)

Many patients maintain normal weight but still have fullness in certain areas. These represent fat deposits that can not be reduced with all the exercise in the world or more strenuous weight control. Common areas include the lower abdomen, hips, outer and inner thighs and inner knees. Liposuction, or “liposculpture” can reduce these problem areas and restore the normal contour of the body and legs. Liposuction is one of the safest procedures performed by board certified plastic surgeons today and is almost always carried out on an outpatient basis with the patient returning the next day for a follow-up appointment. Suction is often done by itself or as an adjunctive procedure when combined with tummy tucks or other cosmetic procedures like rhinoplasty and breast augmentation. Patients often ask how much weight they will lose with suction. It’s therefore important to recognize that liposuction is not really a weight loss procedure but rather a sculpting technique that “takes down the bumps”. In many cases, suction is a great option for men and women who have normal or slightly elevated weight who are in good physical condition. Fitness experts tell us that exercise can strengthen and tone muscles but it can not remove fat deposits. And personal trainer knows that exercise and weight loss both do not target specific areas of the body for fat reduction. If you have been considering liposuction please feel free to call us and schedule a consultation with Dr. Newman at our Murrieta/Temecula office. View before and after photos…

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Today’s beauty ideal for the torso is a flat, long and narrow abdomen as shown countless times in the media. Patients who experience childbirth, weight loss or just the effects of time develop a progressive loosening of the tissues of the abdomen and an accumulation of skin and fat of the abdomen. Abdominoplasty procedures can turn back the hands of time by tightening the muscles, removing unwanted skin and fat, thus slimming down the tummy. Being able to wear certain clothes comfortably and confidently and with pride can bring a new sense of self-esteem and can positively affect a patient’s life. There are different patterns of tissue change over time and thus there is a spectrum of different treatments available for patients. Options include such procedures as liposuction only, mini-tucks and full tummy tucks. And there are several different types of each technique to treat the differing types and degrees of tissue change. After listening to a patient describe what bothers them about their abdomen a thorough examination is carried out and a customized plan designed for each patient with the purpose of achieving the most optimal result and the lowest risk. If the appearance of your tummy has begun to bother you please feel free to schedule a consultation at our Murrieta/Temecula office. View before and after photos…
