Frequently Asked Questions
Who provides anesthesia services
at the center?
The Center utilizes only the experienced
Board Certified M.D. anesthesiologists who
have full and active privileges at
Rancho Springs Medical Center, a regional
hospital one block away. Besides the
usual call the night prior to surgery,
a meeting with a staff anesthesiologist can
be arranged prior to the day of your
procedure.
Why should I come to see Dr.
Newman years after surgery?
It not only helps us improve our care
but helps in the maintenance of your
good result. You have worked hard to
improve yourself and this is the first
step! Our staff fosters a warm connection
with patients from the start specifically
to encourage them to see us again.
How often and for how long
will I need to see Dr. Newman after
surgery?
This of course varies and depends on
the patient and where they live, and
on the procedure. We encourage patients
to continue to see us and especially
to make an appointment whenever they
have a concern. Patients are also encouraged
to see us far into the future. We enjoy
getting feedback about patients care
at our Center and often, the best feedback
comes from patients who return one,
two and three years after their experience.
Where do I go after surgery?
The Surgery Center team and physicians
feel that warm and supportive care
can be best rendered at home especially
with the excellent pre-operative instruction
of the nursing staff. The patient’s
home is a well-known environment. Extended
care facilities may even have staff
that doesn’t have specific knowledge
of the patient’s procedure. Therefore,
every effort is made to tailor the
patient’s procedure so that they can
go home after their surgery. Patients
can request a nurse to stay with them
post-operatively. Patients who feel
that home care may present special
problems (inquisitive children) are
encouraged to stay at a relative or
friend’s home or hotel.
When will I be seen next?
Generally, patient are seen the next
day with the exception of patients
who have a tummy
tuck who are seen on the third
post-operative day. Our staff and physicians
will provide active input during all
of your post-operative visits.
Will I be contacted around
the time of my surgery?
Our scheduling coordinator will contact
you three days prior to surgery to
see how you are doing and to communicate
what time you should arrive at the
Surgery Center. The anesthesiologist generally
calls each patient the night prior
to surgery to obtain some basic information
and to put you at ease, and Dr. Newman
will call you the evening of your procedure
to make sure you are comfortable.
Do I see the staff and Dr.
Newman again prior to surgery?
Once your procedure date is scheduled,
we will set up a date for you to return
for a pre-operative visit. The surgery
plan will be reviewed again and any
changes will be discussed. Pre-operative
photographs will be taken and risks
and benefits will be discussed thoroughly.
Prescriptions for any labs, studies
and medications will be given to you
at this time. Please have these filled
prior to your surgery so you will have
them at home after your procedure.
What are the steps one takes
to have cosmetic surgery?
Patients can schedule a consultation
reasonably soon as the Doctor has one
full time site and no distant offices
to diminish his time for patients in
Temecula and Murrieta. If you wish
to fill out your patient registration
at home to save time, please feel free
to call us and we will fax the forms
to you. Please be punctual for your
consultation as the Doctor makes every
effort to respect patient’s schedules
and also wants to spend adequate, quality
time with each patient.
Where do are patients come
from?
Our patients reside mostly in the Inland
Empire but we have a significant number
of patients who live on the coast.
Also, many of our patients have moved
to distant regions over the years and
they and their friends and relative
come for secondary procedures. They
begin this process by contacting our
scheduling coordinating and are encouraged
to submit photographs via e-mail. A
preoperative telephone consultation
can be arranged with the Doctor and
with the nurse, and labs and studies,
if needed can be ascertained. Patients
can schedule their flight so that they
can see the Doctor a day or two prior
to their care. Patients will be required
to stay in the area for varying times
depending on the type of procedure. Visit
our Fly-in Patients page
for more information.
Who are the patients we care
for at our Surgery Center?
Most of our patients are referred by
other patients who have had cosmetic
surgery at our Center. If you don’t
know anyone who has had surgery with
us please inform our receptionist or
our scheduling coordinator. Our staff
will be happy to assist you to connect
with other patients who have had the
same procedures.
